Let me tell the story of the first couple weeks in some pictures!
These are the toolboxes! They shipped to us the second day, so we were kinda bored that first day, then like, way over the top excited the second day. The truck drove up during lunch, I saw one of our instructors Steve, start up the forklift and I began to get excited. Then we all heard the beeping from the semi backing up. It was 100% Christmas in July. (The guy unpacking that box is Pete, one of our main instructors.)
We unpacked all of them and lined them up. The instructors bought a list of tools from independent companies that arrived a couple weeks earlier, so we sorted them and put on of each in the boxes. Unfortunately the Sonic set, of wrenches, sockets, drivers and pliers, are all on backorder and won't arrive until September.
This one is my toolbox!
Our first class is Aircraft drawings, which is basically drafting.
It's a lot of work to measure, draw, and dimension the parts. This one took me 7 hours!
A lot of the tools that we use are cheaper to make than buy, plus it gives us good experience working with the machines and metal. This sheet metal project is Aluminum tool chits. They are like a library card for the tool room. When we use a specialty tool, like micrometers or something, we put a tag with our tool number stamped on it in the tool room. I will add my stamps on Monday.
At my house Collin decided to make a 24/7 house soup. (Our house is on Cincinnati St, thus we are the Cinci house) Where you take some add some. Eventually as you add things and it keeps cooking down and it changes what kind of soup it is! We've had tomato and tuna, bean chili, zucchini and sweet potato, and now lentils.
Also, we have a bonsai tree garden at my house.
Overall, it has been loads of fun and new experiences. I am beginning to adjust to the very different schedule and structuring of "classes" and "labs." And I can't wait to show y'all more of what I've been doing! Thank you for all of your prayers and support, it really is the greatest of blessings!
